Most travel agents run a Facebook page and a Facebook group, then post the same deal in both. They do different jobs, and treating them differently gets you more from each.
Your page finds new people
Your page is your shop window. It’s public, it’s what people find when they search for you, and its posts can be shared to people who don’t know you yet. Use it for your best-looking deals, the ones a stranger would stop for.
- Post consistently, ideally every day
- Lead with a strong image and the price
- End with one clear next step, such as “Message me for your dates”
Your group turns followers into bookings
People in your group have chosen to be there, so they’re warmer. It’s where conversation happens: questions, comments and “I’ve been there” replies. That makes it the place to talk, not just post.
- Add a line of your own above each deal, like who you’d send there and why
- Ask a question, such as “Sea days or port days?”, to get members talking
- Reply to every comment, as each reply keeps the post in front of people
Don’t post the same thing twice, word for word
If someone follows your page and sits in your group, seeing the same post twice looks lazy. Share the deal on your page, then post it in the group with a more personal opening. It takes a minute and reads as advice rather than an advert.
Move the conversation to private messages
When someone comments “How much for May?”, reply in the comments to say you’ve messaged them, then quote privately. Others see you’re responsive, and the client gets a proper quote rather than a public back-and-forth.
